Baby Walkers
Keeping Babies Safe has taken a hard line against baby walkers. It is Keeping Babies Safe’s belief that CPSC should follow Canada’s lead, and ban on these products altogether. Many parents and caregivers believe that a walker is a safe place to leave a child unattended. KBS warns you should never leave a child unattended in a baby walker. Each year approximately 9,000 infants are injured in baby walker incidents. Most injuries occur when an infant falls down the stairs.
Babies placed in walkers are more likely to be able to reach items on countertops, stovetops and tables. In addition, burn injuries may occur when child rolls near a fireplace, space heater or range oven.
Recalls have been issued for several baby walkers. For more information regarding recalled baby walkers visit www.recalls.gov.
