From Left: Rich & Joyce Davis (President of Keeping Babies Safe) and their children Jamie, Eliza and Lauren at the 5th Annual Keeping Babies Safe run/walk held on Oct. 2nd in Harry Dunham Park in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. More than 500 people participated and over $35,000 was raised in support of the New Jersey-based 501 (c)(3) nonprofit specializing in crib safety advocacy. Keeping Babies Safe has partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in a sleep safety education campaign, and has played a significant role in influencing lawmakers to mandate new crib safety laws which include stopping the manufacture and sale of drop-side cribs; making mattress supports stronger; improving slat strength; making crib hardware more durable, and making safety testing more rigorous. Joyce has made it her mission to help families in New Jersey and nationwide by providing credible crib and sleep safety information, and by donating safe cribs to hospitals and health and human service organizations such as Atlantic Health Systems, Somerset Hospital and NJ Dept of Child and Family Services. |
